19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his initial championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

Success also indicates he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 initial opportunities in a tight final set before the champion won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
